A Night of Unity, Faith & Community – Taste Ramadan 2026

A Night of Unity, Faith & Community — Taste Ramadan 2026

On the evening of Saturday 7th March 2026, the Kent Muslim Welfare Association opened its doors and its heart to the wider community for a truly special occasion – Taste Ramadan.

The Masjid came alive with the enchanting voices of children reciting Nasheeds and verses from the Holy Quran, filling the space with warmth and spiritual beauty. Guests were welcomed into an evening of open conversation, learning, and genuine connection – with an insightful Q&A session offering neighbours, colleagues, and community leaders a rare opportunity to explore the essence of Islam in an open and welcoming environment.

As the Adhan sounded and the fast was broken, around 40 guests from across the community joined together for a wonderful Iftar meal – sharing food, stories, and laughter around the same table. Among those present were Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, and people of other faiths and none, alongside Muslims from a wide range of backgrounds. Representatives from Kent Fire & Rescue Service, Kent Police, and Medway Council also joined us – a testament to the growing bonds between KMWA and those who serve our community.

It was an evening that reminded us all of what is possible when we choose curiosity over assumption, and togetherness over division.

To every single person who attended, volunteered, performed, or contributed – thank you. You made this night what it was.

Ramadan Mubarak from the KMWA family to yours. 🌙

🕌 Children Welcome at Eid Prayers – A New Chapter for KMWA

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْم

Eid is a celebration for the whole Ummah – and that includes our youngest members.

We are pleased to announce that KMWA has lifted the previous restriction on children aged 5 and under attending Eid prayers. All children are now warmly and wholeheartedly welcome to join their families at Gillingham Mosque for Eid Salah, insha’Allah.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “He is not one of us who does not show mercy to our young ones.”
Our children are the future of this community and there is no more fitting place for them than standing alongside their families in the house of Allah ﷻ on the most joyful days of the Islamic calendar.

We ask parents to keep little ones close and to be mindful of other worshippers during prayers, but let there be no doubt – your children belong here, and we look forward to celebrating Eid together as one community, young and old.

May Allah ﷻ bless our children, grant them love for the Masjid from an early age, and unite our community in joy this Eid.

عِيدٌ مُبَارَكٌ – Eid Mubarak in advance to you all 🌙
