With great sadness we announce the loss of Dr. Azhar Rafique Mir – a Founding Member of KMWA

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dr Mir, a much-loved and respected member of our community. Dr Mir was one of the original founders of Kent Muslim Welfare Association and played a key role in establishing the Canterbury Street Masjid, helping to build a place of worship and unity for generations of local Muslims.

As a dedicated doctor, Dr Mir served the community for many years with compassion and humility. He generously provided health advice to countless families and offered a much-valued local circumcision service, supporting many parents and children with care and professionalism.
His lifelong service, kindness, and commitment to the wellbeing of others will never be forgotten. Dr Mir leaves behind a lasting legacy within our community.
May Allah grant him the highest place in Jannah and give patience and strength to his family and all who knew him.

Ramadan Mubarak: The Moon Has Been Sighted🌙

Alhamdulillah, the blessed month of Ramadan has officially begun. As we enter this season of mercy and forgiveness, we invite the entire community to join us for the first night of prayers.

Taraweeh Announcement

InshaAllah, Taraweeh prayers will be commencing from tonight, 17th February 2026, at Gillingham Mosque.

We are incredibly fortunate to have a complete recitation of the Quran scheduled throughout this holy month. We encourage every member of our community to make every effort to attend and complete the Taraweeh prayers in congregation.

A Moment of Reflection from Irfan Aziz – General Secretary:

The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said:

“Whoever fasts the month of Ramadan due to faith and seeking reward, his previous sins will be forgiven. Whoever stands in prayer during the Night of Decree due to faith and seeking reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.”(Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 1901)

Let us use this opportunity to reset our intentions and seek the immense rewards promised to us during these sacred nights.

15th Shaban will be on Monday 2nd Feb

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh, dear brothers and sisters,

15th Shaban will be on 2nd Feb Monday night. Below is the Hadith which mentions the virtues of the 15 night of Shaban.

There will be a talk by Molana Irfan on 2nd February after Isha at Gillingham masjid inshaAllah. Isha is at 7:00 pm.

Alī (raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu) narrated that the Messenger (ﷺ) stated,

“When it is the night of the middle of Sha’bān, do Qiyām in the night, and fast in the morning, for Verily Allah descends during the night (from sunset) to the nearest heavens.

Allah then announces:

‘Is there anyone who is asking for forgiveness so that I can forgive them, is there anyone who needs sustenance (rizq) that I may give it to him, who is in distress that I may relieve his distress?’

Many other similar proclamations are made, and this continues till fajr.”

The Gillingham masjid will remain open on next Monday night.

Jazāk Allāhu Khayran.
