This post contains Minutes of the Annual General Meeting which took place in 2022.

Apologies this was not posted last year.

19 ATTENDEES INCLUDING 8 TRUSTEES. 

1. TILAWAT – Performed by Imam Zahoor. 

2. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE – Br Zaki Ahmed. 

3. CHAIRMAN AND GENERAL SECRETARY REPORT – Br Azeem Nader read out the printed report for 2021-22. Printed copies were available. 

4. TREASURER REPORT – Br Issa Rumjaun gave the Treasurers report and also summarised the financial position during the COVID period. Printed copies were available. 

5. APPOINTMENT OF AUDITORS –  Akbar Chartered Accountants were reappointed and thanked for their service to the community, with respect to preparation of our annual accounting report, audited accounts, and the staff payroll. 

6. ELECTION COMMISIONERS REPORT – Brs Naseeem Sheikh and Saeed Khan delivered the election commissioners report and the results of the elections. There were 6 candidates for 4 Trustee posts. The elected Trustees were Brs Zaki Ahmed, Sayed Ishtiaq, Azeem Chaudry, Mahmood. The outgoing Trustees, Brs Sherebaz Khan, Amir Quraishi, Sajid Khan were thanked for their long service and sacrifice to the BoT and community. 

7. ANY OTHER BUSINESS & QUESTIONS FROM THE FLOOR – Following on from the vote of thanks, Br Ajaib suggested that it would be nice to have a history of KMWA and also a ‘wall of fame’ for those members who have served the Masjid.  

There were some general discussions around the maintenance of the Masjid and quality of the speaker system. The Masjid requires a programme of maintenance and improvement. This would obviously require extra and dedicated funding. 

Imam Zahoor wanted to thank and highlight those Brothers who help look after and clean the Masjid, especially on a Thursday night in preparation for Salaat-ul Jummah. The Raja family and Br Saeed Khan were especially mentioned. 

Br Ajaib wanted to highlight Brs Fayaz Iqbal and Atif Mir for their ‘Ark’ work engaging with the community and helping to fundraise for the new Masjid, and producing the newsletter. 

Some fundraising suggestions were made regarding possibly doing a TV campaign for the new Masjid. Br Abdul briefly summarised the issues that have hindered the progress with the building work, ie. COVID, lack of funds and increased building costs, and the anticipation that we will be able to continue with the development of the new Masjid over the next 12 months. 

8. RESOLUTIONS-   there were no specific resolutions passed. 

Sunday 14th May in Gillingham Masjid after Salaat ul Zohr (from 2pm).

The Chairman and General Secretary report will be a PowerPoint presentation and coordinators will be given the opportunity to say a few words about their work.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, there will be an opportunity towards the end of the meeting to express your opinion and discuss any issues.

It is anticipated that the meeting will last up to 2 hours.

The KMWA BoT election took place today and results have been confirmed.

There were a total of 41 voters and 156 votes cast.

The four candidates elected were Brothers:

Basir Ahmed 32 votes.

Waseem Mirza 30 votes.

Agha Naeem Ahmed Khan 30 votes.

Majid Arshad 28 votes.

Congratulations to these 4 Brothers and commiserations to the unsuccessful candidates.

I would like on behalf of KMWA to thank all those who took part and those who helped things to run smoothly.

Special thanks go to our election commissioners, Brothers Naseem Sheikh and Saeed Khan , who have so professionally carried out their job for over 20 years. May Allah reward them for their dedication and patience and fairness.

KMWA nominations for 4 Trustees for possible elections on May 7th in shah Allah.

The Trustees whose 4 year term is complete are Brothers:
Waseem Mirza,
Chaudry Bashir,
Agha Naeem,
Majid Arshad.

The nomination forms will be available and will need to be in by 5th May before Salaat ul Maghrib and so time is short. Also, membership will also need to be renewed for the year 23/24 by Friday 5th May by 2.30pm at the latest in order to participate in the event of an election.

Please note- you need to have been a member for 1 year to stand as a Trustee and you need to have been a member for the last 6 months to participate should there be an election.

Also note that the AGM will take place as a separate event 1 week after on Sunday 14th May after Salaat ul Zohr – more details will follow in shah Allah.
